Exhibit 4
Infographic
Background
My goal here was to create a clean and minimalistic infographic that focused on the benefits of apricots. I decided to play with shapes and straight lines. I circled the numbers that correlated to each benefit. The reason for doing this was to catch the eyes and guide them through each benefit. I used the straight line to create visual sections.
Design
For the design, I started with a photo of apricots as the background.
I chose the picture specifically because it contrasted well with the white text that I wanted to use for the information.
I used the circle shape in Photoshop to create the circles around the numbers. I removed the fill and added a dotted stroke to make it more visually dynamic. This helped me utilize the concept of repetition.
I also used the straight-line shape to create two different columns for the data. This effectively separates the information it easy-to-consume sections. It also helps emphasize the alignment in the design as a whole.
For the title, I title I decided to use the word "Apricot" as a see-through cutout text. I think this adds an element of hierarchy and a cue for what the infographic discusses.

Revision
For this revision, I decided to improve the infographic by removing some of the clutter and improving the balance in the design. The thicker white elements of the previous design were distracting so I decided to reduce it a bit. This also lets the image in the background show through a bit more. I blurred the background image using a Gaussian blur, even though I really liked the strong colors and contrast of the picture. I think adding the blur effect focuses the viewer's attention on the content, making it more prominent than the picture. I created the lines using the line tool.
