Exhibit 2
Online Magazine Design Front Page
Background
My goal was to create the layout of the front page of a travel online magazine. This summer I went to Greece and brought my DSLR camera with me. The picture on the left is a picture of me that my husband took standing outside of one of the famous restaurants in Santorini. The one on the right is one that I took while we were on a sailing tour. This place was beautiful so I decided to combine these two pictures to create contrast and give us a glance of a Mediterranean vibe. I wanted to design something that looks clean, invites people to look into it, and incentivizes traveling.
Design
Use of negative space for readability
Images contrast each other.
Typefaces create contrast (different sizes, styles, and colors)
Margin alignments are strong.
The title aligns pretty well with the content and the "read more" button.
The principle of proximity is effectively distributed around the layout. Space is used to separate content elements. The first block, title, and the content after that are separated by a large space between the larger text at the bottom.
Typography - Raleway family font and Anke calligraphic font for the title.

Revision
For this exhibition, I decided to only make a minor change. I updated the text to be bold in order to make it more visible and readable. I also made the text in the transparent background a little thicker to pop the content even more.
